Kim has worked with horses for more than 20 years. She has the innate ability to discern how horses think and react, and works with her students to help them learn how the horse sees and understands its world. Kim is an experienced teacher, and has assisted many people in grasping and applying horsemanship.
Kim began training professionally at the age of 16, and has been employed as both hand and trainer at various ranches across the mid-western U.S. She has ranch, cattle, and roping experience and still uses these techniques today at the facility where she lives.
Kim has studied with some of the best horsemen in the country, including Brent Graef, Buck Brannaman, Bill and Angie of Full Circle Horsemanship, and Kurt Pate. Her horsemanship – influenced by the teachings of such horsemen as the Dorrance brothers, Ray Hunt, and Buck Brannaman –teaches people to search for the “feel” in a horse, enabling the horse to be soft and supple.
In addition to teaching natural horsemanship, she has competed in such classes as Halter, Reining, Jumping, and many others. Kim believes that, regardless of discipline or riding style, there is always a method of offering the horse a better deal.
Today, Kim’s work with horses includes colt starting, correction of problem horses, and the training from start to finish of the hackamore and bridle horse.
